JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes is changing lives and moving us faster toward better treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes with every mile pedaled.
Riders from around the world take on two challenges: raising the money needed to fund research for better treatments and a cure for diabetes, and reaching a personal training goal to prepare for a destination cycling experience.
JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes destinations are designed for riders at all fitness levels. Even if you are not an everyday cyclist, our USA Cycling certified coaches will work with you in the months prior to the Ride to develop a training program based on your individual needs.
Partners in Motion
As a rider, you’ll commit to a fundraising minimum (packages start at $2,000) and in exchange, JDRF will provide you with support and coaching during the months leading up to as well as throughout the JDRF Ride weekend. JDRF has created powerful online fundraising tools to make it easier for you to reach your goal, and your local JDRF chapter can help you with materials, ideas, and support.
Be Part of the Cause
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved. Type 1 diabetes strikes children and adults, causes dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. The money you raise helps JDRF move faster toward better treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Your Biggest Fan
If you don’t already have your special reason for riding, you can be matched with one of our Youth Ambassadors young heroes from your community living with diabetes. This young person’s courage will offer you motivation, and he or she will be your biggest fan.
